How to Reset Lexmark Printer (4 Easy Methods)

The easiest way to reset a Lexmark printer is by following these steps:

           Turn off your Lexmark printer.

  • Hold down the reset button combination, which includes two to three buttons. On touchscreen models, you can go to Settings > Devices > Restore Factory Defaults until Restore Factory Defaults appears on the screen.
  • Then, release the buttons, and the printer finishes printing. Finally, it will come back to its original state.

However, a single reset method won’t work for all problems. Hence, there are four main types of reset methods for a Lexmark printer.

Method 1: Soft reset (power cycle)

  • Turn off your printer using the power button.
  • Disconnect it from the wall by gently pulling the cord.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Method 2: Factory reset on touchscreen models

  • Tap Settings from the home screen.
  • Tap Device and then tap Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Select Restore Settings, then choose specific setting groups or “Restore All Settings” to reset everything at once.
  • Finally, tap the Restore button and let the printer restart.

Method 3: Factory reset on non-touchscreen models

  • For printers with numeric keypad panels: Power off the printer, press 2 and 6 together while powering on the printer. Some models respond with "#" and "6."
  • For printers with three-button panels and no keypad: Power off the printer, hold Menu > Go and Select together while powering it back on. Release when “Restore Factory Defaults” appears.

Method 4: Reset remotely via the embedded web server

  • Print a network setup page from your printer’s menu to check its current IP address.
  • Enter the IP address into a web browser, and log in with your admin credentials or the default PIN.
  • Go to Settings > Device > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Finally, select the settings to restore and confirm.
